CBBC (standing for Children's BBC) is a British television channel aimed at children.

History

The BBC has broadcast programmes for children since the 1930's. Following World War II, For the Children commenced in July 1946, with a 20-minute slot every Sunday afternoon.

On September 9, 1985, the long-standing block of children's programmes was re-branded as Children's BBC. During the 1990's, Children's BBC became known as CBBC.
