Mandy "Elektra" Perkins is a former resident of Elmtree House II and Ashdene Ridge. She is currently working in Africa.

Biography

Background

Initially born as Mandy Perkins, Elektra is the daughter of Maryl and Bernard Perkins and lived with them and her older sister, Melissa. Unlike her sister, Elektra had a rebellious attitude. Her parents were very prim and proper, and her mother in particular was extremely overprotective. The sisters were controlled by their parents and not allowed to choose what they enjoyed and didn't enjoy. Although Melissa didn't say anything, Elektra often stood up for herself and was not afraid to argue with her parents. When Elektra became a Vegetarian, it clashed with her parents who didn't want to accept it. When Elektra was around 12, she began rebelling in a more serious way and even ended up getting arrested on her sister's prom night. Infuriated, Elektra's parents put her in care.

Whilst in care, Elektra was roommates with a girl named Kali. The care home they lived in was rough, so they formed a gang called The Cobras, initially to protect themselves. However, the gang recruited lots of people and began tormenting and bullying those who weren't in the gang. They also started shoplifting and committing other crimes. Because of this, Kali, being the leader of the gang, was sent to a Youth Detention Centre, some of the gang members were sent to Secure Homes and some (including Elektra) ended up simply going to a new care home out of luck. Elektra went through several care homes, not settling anywhere.

Tracy Beaker Returns: Series 2

On arriving at Elmtree House, Elektra tricked the care workers into believing she was a sweet and friendly girl. When she was asked if she wanted to meet the other kids in the home, she politely asked if she could meet them on her own; she claimed that she always felt it was very formal whenever staff was around. However, on entering the lounge, she told Carmen (who attempted to introduce herself to Elektra and compliment her on her blue streaks) to shut up and went on to ask who out of the kids was in charge. Everyone seemed to look at Liam who was playing pool with Frank. Elektra immediately picked a fight with Liam by pushing him over the pool table, only to storm off after he refused to retaliate to her wanting to start a fight.

Elektra later told Carmen that every other care home she had been in she was always beaten up on her first day, so she just wanted to get it over with and out of the way. After Carmen reassured her that it's not like at The Dumping Ground, Elektra stated that no-one was going to like her after what she did, to which Carmen suggested they might if she went downstairs and tried introducing herself again. She then went to see the others in the lounge (apart from Liam and Frank who were setting up their den in the attic). After a meagre lunch, Elektra befriended the girls and later Frank, Toby and Johnny into a club called "S.E.T.A." - the Secret Elm Tree Army. She then had the kids do initiation tests for her which at first seemed like harmless pranks - including Johnny removing parts from a hoover to make it malfunction. She then upped the stakes by having the kids do more dodgy activities such as having Carmen steal £20 from the office. Elektra lied to the kids that she would return the objects, while soon noticing that Harry had spied on them and cut off Jeff's leg to get him to not tell anyone about what he'd seen. She was found out after Liam tricked Elektra into confessing and both Frank and Tracy had overheard her. Elektra expected to be thrown out, but Mike said that they were not giving up on her, to which she replied "you will".

After Elektra stirred up trouble when she heard Tracy and Seth talk about the truth behind the Watsons not fostering Johnny and Tee, she and the rest of the Dumping Ground went on a weekend trip to the countryside. Elektra and the others were split into two groups (the group Elektra was in also consisted of Gina and Tracy). After Gina suffered a sprained ankle, Tracy was made the group's team leader for Mike's Big 5K Challenge. Unfortunately, Elektra got annoyed at not being made leader of the group and how she thought their team would get slowed down with the kids on it, so she changed the instructions Mike wrote so the groups wouldn't get lost (making Elektra, Tracy and their group go down a path different to the one they were supposed to go on). She then tried to get Tracy to go back with Harry while Elektra continued on with the others and got backed by Carmen and Toby after claiming that Tracy was treating them like little kids for wanting them all to turn back. Unfortunately, Elektra's plan to have her, Carmen and Toby take a shortcut in an attempt to win led to a bridge that had been fenced up. Although Elektra successfully got across it, Carmen fell through it and the rest of the group had to help rescue her (while Elektra found her way back to them). After they all found their way to the endpoint (finishing after the group Mike was leading had arrived), Elektra was found out about what she'd done and got told off by Mike about this. This led to her storming off to her tent, until Tracy convinced her to come out (not wanting to leave her out) and joined the others for a group photo.

After a while at the Dumping Ground, Elektra seemed to start softening up. After teasing Liam about his court hearing, Elektra got annoyed when Tracy and Liam suggested going to the old people's home Liam was made to serve at (which Elektra found rather peaceful). She soon reunited with Kali and was fooled into believing that her best friend had changed, but became shocked after she saw Kali and a group of Cobras she was with mugging Toby. Although she called Frank's Granddad "Smelly Old Man" after learning he had died, Elektra later helped out with creating a bench commemorating Frank's Granddad (according to Carmen, Elektra had done most of the work). Carmen attempted to make friends with Elektra and gave her a necklace. Unfortunately, Carmen asked for the necklace back as a gift for Lily, which led to Elektra bullying Carmen as payback until the two somewhat made up later.

Tracy Beaker Returns: Series 3

After Dennis and the Burnywood kids he had with him came to the Dumping Ground, Elektra became annoyed at being made to share with Lizanne and when she fell victim to a prank of Tyler's. She and Carmen snuck into Tyler's room, attempting to steal some of his stuff with the intent of bringing it back to him after a while. However, Elektra instead decided to destroy it (which she did) and laughed at Carmen after Tyler put glue in her shampoo. She later set off the fire alarm after the attic caught on fire. Elektra was later questioned by Gus and Tracy when they were investigating the fire.

After the Dumping Ground suffered a power cut, Elektra searched the house with the others after they thought an intruder had found their way in and was later present when the group opened a time capsule previously buried by Tracy. She soon ended up fighting with Liam after he borrowed money from her to get her a DVD and didn't give it to her because it was a pirate DVD. After the two constantly ended up fighting because of this, she all the same attended Liam's going away party and had a good time at it.

Elektra soon met Melissa again, who was getting married. Melissa got Elektra a dress for the occasion (which Elektra accepted because Melissa wanted her to wear it) and took her home to their parents. Although Elektra was quite surprised at how much better they were (her Mother did a vegetarian meal for her), Elektra ended up getting angry at them after they highly disapproved of her blue highlights and when they revealed that they said Elektra was at boarding school. This led to her pretending to be her Mother to cancel the wedding, only to regret doing so after finding that Melissa had got her shoes Elektra wanted to wear for the wedding and confessed the truth about Elektra to her fiancé Harvey. After Elektra confessed to what she'd done, Melissa stormed off in anger from Elektra. However, Elektra was later sent the shoes by Melissa, who revealed that she had married Harvey in a field and forgiven Elektra, while all the same thanking her for helping her stand up to their parents.

When Jody arrived at the Dumping Ground, Elektra laughed at how Jody and Carmen would be roommates. She later locked Jody in the toy cupboard but got found out after Carmen told on her and ripped up Carmen's clothes in retaliation. Elektra got exposed for this as well and ended up moving in with Sapphire. Elektra was also among the other kids that wanted to go with Mike when he went to get his MBE. Elektra then continued to feud with Sapphire about sharing a room until she suddenly left without Elektra knowing. Elektra later helped organise Tracy's leaving party.

The Dumping Ground: Series 1

When the kids were left home alone after Mike had gone on holiday and Gina ended up in hospital from a concussion after Harry accidentally set off an old grenade that was from a box of several that Johnny had found, Elektra became annoyed at how Mike and Gina were going to tell her something but they didn't. Upon successfully getting into Mike's computer, she saw an email that appeared to state how Mike and Gina were going to kick her out of Elmtree House and so attempted to leave by herself (though Faith tried to stop her). Elektra soon booked herself a trip to Australia for the "Are You the Young Leader of Tomorrow?" competition and forced Frank and Tyler to help her after the two claimed that they were mugged of the money that was supposed to be for food (when she knew that they had squandered it). She also locked Johnny and Tee in the coal bunker when they rebelled against her. When Elektra found she was unable to be part of it all, Gina returned and told Elektra that she and Mike were thinking about having Elektra live closer to Melissa and Harvey (an opportunity that she wasted because of what she did) and was forced to apologise to the kids and help clear up the mess they made.

When a lesbian couple came to Elmtree House with the intent of possibly fostering Gus, Elektra (along with Faith) became annoyed when Johnny stated his views about whether homosexuals should be allowed to foster kids but later came to comfort him because what he'd said led to Tee getting angry at him and it made Elektra feel sorry for him. During a trip to an old house where the kids, Mike and Gina would all dress up as noble persons and their servants from the Edwardian era for the day, Elektra became annoyed at being forced to be a maid to Johnny who was made the earl of the manor. His important position led to him going overboard and caused the outing to be a disaster, though Johnny tried to make up for it by doing everyone breakfast the next day.

Whilst Elektra was in Rick's room writing songs with him, Tyler launched water bombs through the open window. Angered at what had happened, Elektra accidentally trod on Rick's records and destroyed them (while getting further angered when Tyler blamed her for what had happened). She later started mocking Tyler for how he didn't appear to be sane, which was only furthered when Tyler was hearing a dripping noise that no one else was. When they soon became concerned about Tyler, Elektra and Rick soon found him in the attic and realised that the dripping was a leak just above Tyler's room and the bathroom. Elektra was later hit by another water bomb by Tyler, though she congratulated him on his aim. After a snake ended up in Johnny's room, Elektra mocked him for how scared he was and tried to catch it but it escaped. Once Elektra was able to photograph it, Johnny found that it was a coral snake (which are venomous) and the two started to panic. After it ended up on Elektra's shoe, she kicked it off when Faith's brother Razz's former gang members found it and ran away (also believing it to be venomous) until Razz revealed that it was a milk snake before he left.

Soon enough, Elektra moved to Ashdene Ridge for a short period before she moved out off-screen.

After leaving care

In the Instagram Drama "After The DG" it was revealed that at some point after Elektra left The Dumping Ground and moved in with her sister, she had begun dating a boy called Matt. Unfortunately, he started to become abusive towards Elektra physically and mentally, stopped her from talking to or seeing her friends and once even locked her in a room. This also caused Elektra and Melissa's falling out when Melissa found out about Matt being abusive towards Elektra but did nothing about it. Thankfully, Elektra was able to escape her abusive relationship with Matt, moved out of Melissa's house and found a home of her own. She started her own online T-shirt-selling business, which is how she paid her rent. She also started training to become a Mechanic. When Elektra finally became a qualified mechanic she got a job working at a local garage. Melissa didn't even congratulate her for becoming a mechanic. Elektra also figured out her sexuality and began dating a girl named Sula.

The Dumping Ground: Series 5

When Ashdene Ridge was in danger of closing down, Elektra worked with Frank to try and make the council member in charge of it all Mr. Umbleby believe the Dumping Ground was built on the remains of an old Roman villa. It didn't work, but Umbleby was exposed for his misdeeds and Ashdene Ridge was saved, while Elektra spent Christmas there.

The Dumping Ground: Series 8

After Jody and Tyler ran away from Ashdene Ridge, they stayed with Elektra who gave them £100 for Jody's plane ticket. She also reluctantly tried to help in retrieving Jody's passport, but they were all caught by May-Li. However, she was able to get May-Li to see things from Tyler and Jody's point of view while also getting the two to think about how May-Li felt before she left.

The Dumping Ground: Series 9

Elektra soon ended up working in Africa. When Sasha needed to get away from her brother, Murphy, who was living at Ashdene Ridge, she called Elektra if she can stay with her but she couldn't.

Personality

As soon as she moved into Elmtree House, Elektra was shown to be an unkind, aggressive-natured person. She knows what she wants, and isn't afraid to stick up for her own opinion. She also picked on some of the kids if they met her means and had a fierce rivalry with Liam. However, Elektra does have a good side; she was disgusted with what The Cobras became as opposed to why she and Kali initially started it and was initially very close to Kali until she realised Kali approved of the gang's new attitudes. She also apologised to Carmen for putting her in danger when Carmen tried to follow her across the bridge and helped Tyler out when he thought he was going mad, while also feeling sorry for Melissa due to everything that their parents forced her to get involved in.

Physical appearance

Characteristics

Elektra is a teenage girl with long straight brown hair that had blue streaks, grey-blue eyes and is fair-skinned.

Attire

She normally wears blue, grey, black, and sometimes yellow-themed clothes. She goes for skinny jeans and looser fitting tops, sometimes under jackets, with Dr. Martens. She has shiny metallic blue ones with yellow laces and black ones with blue laces, and in the Dumping Ground, she has a new pair that is bright yellow with blue laces. She also usually wears large silver hoop earrings. With her former gang, Elektra was given an earring (episode "Snake Bite") in the shape of a snake to represent her former gang the Cobras. However, this was only worn in one episode until she realised that the gang was bad news.
