Faith Davis is a former resident of Elmtree House II and Ashdene Ridge. She is currently a university student.

Biography[]

Background[]

Faith had been living with her beloved grandmother and brother in a flat for most of her life. Yet, as her grandmother's health began to decline, Faith grew increasingly concerned for her wellbeing. Sadly, Faith's grandmother eventually passed away, which left her and her brother, Razz, feeling incredibly overwhelmed and helpless. Faced with no other option, Razz chose to run away, leaving Faith to fend for herself in the flat. With no other family to depend on, Faith was left to cook, clean, pay bills and generally take care of herself at her tender age. Having had such a hard time, Faith was desperate for help and one day decided to tell a teacher at school about her dire situation. Fortunately, this teacher was determined to get help for Faith and thus informed social services of her predicament. Not long after, Faith was taken away from the flat and brought to Elmtree House.

The Dumping Ground: Series 1[]

Faith moved into Elmtree House sometime between the end of Tracy Beaker Returns and the start of The Dumping Ground. She quickly made her mark by having to toss out a grenade that had been found by Johnny and Harry had pulled the pin out of, not realizing the consequences. This led to Gina being taken to hospital with concussion, and the Army had to be called in to take away the grenades. After receiving a telling off from one of the officers, who had mistaken her for a care worker, Faith went to use the phone to find out what had happened to the care worker who would be Mike's relief. But before she could make her call, Elektra stopped her and suggested she could pretend to be the replacement. Faith refused this suggestion and it was decided that she would take lead until Gina returned from hospital. Later that day, Gus pulled the pin on a grenade he had kept nearly destroying the house. Fortunately, Faith was able to take charge and keep any more accidents from occurring.

Days later, the kids had run out of food and were desperate. With their sparse remaining money, they pooled their funds and sent Tyler and Frank out to buy food. To their dismay, though, the boys returned home and lied to their housemates, claiming they had been mugged, and it seemed that Faith believed them. On the same day, Faith discovered that Elektra had entered a competition and was chosen as a finalist to win a trip to Australia. Knowing the kids were home alone, Faith was horrified to learn that a representative had been chosen to come to the Dumping Ground to interview Elektra. Seeing how important this was to Elektra, Faith reluctantly agreed to pretend to be a care worker for the day, or else Elektra would reveal the truth about what really happened.

The following day, after Elektra failed her interview, she revealed to the competition representative that Faith was in fact not a care worker. Elektra's actions blew the lid on the kids' situation, prompting an immediate response from the competition representative. However, Tee had phoned Gina to warn her what had happened, potentially saving Elmtree House from being closed down and the careworkers from losing their jobs. As a result of Elektra revealing the truth, Faith, like the other kids, was sanctioned by having her pocket money docked until the petty cash and Johnny's savings, which the kids had raided after discovering he had not pooled of his money and used some of it to buy chocolate biscuits, had been replaced.

Faith had always dreamed of being an athlete, and she had signed up for a charity run to support an anti-child abuse charity. However, in "The Real Faith Davis", the day before the race the police came for Faith and her secret ambition was exposed. Her roommates, including Elektra, were suspicious of her as they had had no knowledge of Faith's plan to run. Doing some snooping, they found a golden bracelet with the name 'Razz' engraved on it in her room and concluded that Faith was a gang member. Elektra demanded an explanation, but Faith refused to say any more.

Faith had returned to the Dumping Ground after having been asked to take part in a DNA test by the police. It had been a difficult time for her, as the test was in relation to her lost brother Razz, as a body had been found and identified as him. Upon her returning, the other kids noticed how fragile she was, and did their best to try and comfort her. Frank in particular had been very supportive to her, and she had appreciated his effort despite her rebutting of everybody. When it was finally confirmed that the body wasn't her brother, her emotions were overwhelmed, and she was disgusted to learn that the other kids had been talking about her while she was away. Faith had finally been relieved from the stress of the situation, but was now filled with anger at all of the kids conspiring against her.

The following day, Elektra convinced Faith to take part in the charity run, not wanting her friend to give in to her difficult times she had been struggling with since the DNA test. She reminded Faith of what she had said the previous day, that she wasn't like the other residents of the DG and that she wanted to get on with her life. Knowing how much Faith loved running, Elektra thought that if she was going to take part in the race, it should be her running and not Johnny, who had volunteered to do the race in her place. In spite of Faith's initial reluctance, Elektra was able to encourage her and the two of them decided to enter the race together.

Frank had only recently gotten a job at a local cafe and one day, he encountered a clairvoyant who claimed to be able to contact the dead. Frank was convinced that he was in contact with his deceased grandfather and thus, when faced with scepticism, Faith stood up for him, arguing that if he believed it, then it ought to be respected. The next day, Faith decided to meet the clairvoyant and asked if they could contact her missing brother Razz, wanting to know if he was truly alive or dead. Much to her surprise, the clairvoyant, Angel, claimed she had made contact with Razz and provided Faith with the closure she desired. However, Rick, who had seen a lot of con artists from his parents, was adamant that what Angel had done was called cold-calling. To prove her point, Faith lied to Angel telling her that she had a guitar which Razz had gifted her and Angel claimed she knew that Faith played it every day. Faith then realized that Rick was right and sadly had to accept the cruel truth.

In "Scary Beasts", Faith was out for a morning run when she encountered Razz. She had been surprised to see him since he had been tracked down through her donation page for the charity run. Razz had explained to her that a body had been found by the police which they had thought was him, but it was because his wallet had been stolen. Faith had been frustrated with Razz for abandoning her, but she quickly had to protect him once she found out that his ex-gang mates were tracking him. She learned that they were tracking him through his phone's GPS, which explained why they had been able to find him. Despite her initial hesitation, she knew that she had to help protect him since the gang members were looking for him.

Whilst in hiding, Razz tried to convince Faith to run away with him as he had acquired a large sum of money. Faith disagreed, citing that she was not going to give up on college and her dreams, no matter the amount of money Razz had. She also saw the dangers of running away with Razz and was not willing to take the risk. After the ex gang members found Razz and were eventually scared off by Mo's snake (thinking it was poisonous), Razz decided that it was better for Faith to be living at Ashdene Ridge rather than being on the run with him. Even so, he was still insistent on convincing Faith to leave with him, as he wanted to protect her. Ultimately, Faith decided to stay and finish her college degree, to which Razz eventually accepted and decided to leave on his own.

The Dumping Ground: Series 2[]

Faith had been dedicating her time to the County Athletics Team since the start of the year. She had trained hard and was delighted when she came first in the 800m race, she felt like all her hard work had finally paid off. She was eagerly waiting to hear back from the Team if she had been accepted but then Bailey was taken to Ashdene Ridge and she had to refocus her attention to him. Although Bailey was rude to everyone, she wanted to make sure he was comfortable and safe. She offered her mobile phone so he could call his dad, as his own phone had run out of power and credit. Faith was willing to do whatever it took to help Bailey, even if it meant sacrificing a chance to join the County Athletics Team.

The following morning, Faith saw Bailey scurrying away from Ashdene Ridge and decided to go after him. Unfortunately, in her haste, she was hit by a car and was quickly rushed to the hospital. Once there, she had to undergo surgery to repair the injuries she had sustained, particularly those to her back. Fortunately, she did not sustain any permanent damage, but would be left with a wheelchair for a period of time before progressing to crutches and eventually, walking normally again. This meant that Faith was unable to go training while she recovered, and although she would eventually qualify for the County Athletics Team, the time she spent out of action meant that she was not fit enough to qualify for the team the following year.

Faith returned to the DG a week later in a state of distress. She had been dealing with an uncertain future, and the pressure of her situation had manifested itself in a nasty attitude towards the other DG residents; she even went so far as to manipulate Harry, Floss and Mo into tidying her bedroom by pretending it was a game. Despite her despondency, Frank, who had since moved out of the DG but was still visiting regularly, encouraged her to take action and search for Bailey, which she eventually did. In the episode ‘The Dumping Ground Experience’, Faith had progressed to walking with crutches, though she was eventually able to walk normally. The episode ‘Finding Frank’ saw Faith, Rick, and Carmen travel to Frank’s flat on a mission to see him, as they had not seen him in weeks. To their dismay, they found the flat empty and soon encountered a hostile man whom Frank owed money to. Concluding that Frank was now in danger, Faith decided to search for him on her own.

After Mike had filed a missing person's report for Frank, Bailey encouraged the young people to go out and hand out posters in the hopes of finding him. After some time, Frank was eventually brought back to the Dumping Ground with Kazima, a young girl he had met while living on the streets. It turned out that Frank had gotten into debt from playing numerous games of poker with his neighbours, which had forced him to become homeless. Faith then came up with a plan to swindle Frank's money back from the people who had cheated him out of it. She would fake an injury with her crutches and claim that she had lost an engagement ring at Frank's flat. Kazima would then 'find' the ring and ask the neighbours the pay her all the money they had won from Frank in return for her silence. The plan was successful, but when the careworkers found out they grounded Faith (and Rick) as punishment for putting herself in danger.

In "Endurance", Faith was determined to make sure that the young people got to watch the programme they wanted. So when they put forward the idea of a 'Touch the Telly' challenge, she was ready to take part. The challenge was simple; whoever kept their hand on the TV for the longest won and the losers had to watch the football. Despite the efforts of the other young people, Faith soon found herself in a precarious situation. Tyler and Jody got into a fight, pushing each other away from the TV in the process. Mo, the referee, declared that they were both out of the game and with that, Faith's chances of winning were gone. Unfortunately for Faith and the others, it didn't matter in the end as everyone fell asleep in front of the TV set before the programme had finished. Despite her best efforts, Faith did not get to watch her programme and was instead treated to a rather uneventful night in front of the TV.

In "I Have a Dream", When Faith put her washing in with Rick's, she thought the worst case would be a mild argument between them. Little did she know, she was about to find herself in an unexpected baking competition against Rick and Tyler. This all began when Frank, out of mischief, had put a red shirt into the washing without either of them knowing, resulting in their clothes coming out pink. When Rick saw the outcome, he joked that boys could do anything better than girls if they put their minds to it, and that's when the challenge was set. With Jody's help, Faith started to prepare for the competition. She shared with Jody her grandmother's cake recipe which she had learnt by heart so that she can pass it on to her own children. In the competition, Faith showed off her impressive baking skills and won the challenge with great success. As a forfeit for losing, Rick, Tyler and Frank had to wear girly outfits. However, that night, when Faith went to have a shower, she found that Rick had used half of her shampoo out of revenge. Despite this, Faith still felt accomplished for having beaten two boys in a baking contest. She knew that her grandmother would be proud of her.

In "Sticks and Stones", Faith had been looking forward to getting her nails manicured by Carmen, who had recently acquired a new set of manicure supplies. But before she could enjoy her manicure, Floss had spilled some glitter and ran away with some of Carmen's possessions. Later, Faith noticed that Bailey had become unusually quiet upon returning from his unsuccessful football trial. She went to his room and was able to persuade Bailey to confide in her. He said that the coach had called him a racist name. In response, Faith and Bailey went to tell Mike and May-Li about the incident. Mike then went to confront the coach for his actions. Although Bailey was initially angry at Faith for getting involved, the two managed to settle their differences the next day and agreed to keep quiet about Bailey's tears and that he now considered Faith a friend.

Faith had found some work experience at a health spa, and after she got the placement she was delighted. All seemed to be going well until her friend Frank got involved and ended up picking a fight with Liam. This caused Faith to lose her job, which annoyed her as she was applying to college and needed this experience for her personal statement. To make matters worse, no other job seemed to be available when they looked in the classifieds. However, this changed when Frank, with help from Harry and Floss, came up with a plan to get Faith a new job. They invited Sian da Silva, a council member Mike was in love with, to the DG for lunch. Here, Sian would meet Faith and be impressed by her. Faith was initially reluctant to be part of the plan, but Kazima explained that it was to help her, and in the end she agreed. The plan worked, and Sian was so impressed that she arranged to speak to Faith about getting a new work placement the following week. This went ahead, and Faith was soon able to get another job at the health spa, with Sian’s help. This was a huge relief for Faith, and she was now one step closer to achieving her dream of becoming a physiotherapist.

The Dumping Ground: Series 3[]

Faith had left the Dumping Ground prior to series 3 to study at university, feeling embarassed to tell her friends she was in care and pretending she lived with an actual family. This was uncovered by Bailey, who blackmailed her into being his lookout whilst he tampered with a record that showed how often he had done his chores. However, this plan was foiled when Jody spotted them, leading to a confrontation with Mike and May-Li. Faced with the prospect of no longer being able to stay at Ashdene Ridge and feeling guilty for lying to her friends, Faith was about to return to her university when she stumbled upon Billie and Tyler pretending to be malnourished orphans on a tour. She proceeded to scold them, telling them that while everyone in the Dumping Ground were care kids, they were no different to anyone else. This realisation prompted Faith to stay at Ashdene Ridge a bit longer, and she was allowed to return for respite care.

The Dumping Ground: Series 5[]

Faith did not have appeared in the 5th series of the show, but in the '#SaveTheDG' special episode, Tee and Johnny made a return to help stop the next door neighbour, Mr Umbleby, from closing down The DG to build luxury apartments. They created a campaign that set out to raise donations to help them save Ashdene Ridge from being destroyed. Tee even revealed that Faith, their faithful friend and companion, had made a generous donation of £50.
