Jody Jackson is a former resident of Elmtree House II and Ashdene Ridge. She is currently living independently.

Biography[]

Background[]

Jody is the youngest child of her mother, Denise, and lived with two older brothers, Kingsley and Luke, and her dog. As well as this, Denise always told her that she was a mistake, (which Jody later told Carmen in the Series 1 episode "S.O.S"). Jody's mother did not take care of her and only washed her when a social worker came to visit.[4] There was rarely any food to eat, meaning they often had to resort to eating food from bins behind supermarkets. Jody once had to eat dog food.[5] Jody's mother and two brothers assaulted a neighbour, and consequently they went on trial, were found guilty and Jody was taken into care.[6]

Tracy Beaker Returns: Series 3[]

Jody first appears in the episode "Jody Jackson". When Jody was first taken to The Dumping Ground, she was violent and was made to share a room with Carmen (much to Carmen's displeasure, as Jody had taken Lily's bed and Carmen had been put off by Jody's bad behaviour). Jody and Carmen eventually made up with each other, where it was learnt that Jody cannot share a room with other people and so ended up getting Sapphire's bedroom.

Not long after moving to the DG, Jody developed an appetite for biscuits, even sleeping with the biscuit jar in bed (as seen in "Goodbye Tracy Beaker"). In "The Invitation", she even accepts a bribe from Johnny to vote for Tee to go to Buckingham Palace, to buy chocolate biscuits. Jody's love of chocolate biscuits is occasionally revisited in The Dumping Ground such as in "Snake" and "The Dumping Ground: I'm... Jody".

The Dumping Ground: Series 1[]

Jody had become friends with Tyler and often played tricks on him, such as putting Carmen's henna on top of the door of Faith's room to land on top of Faith and tricking Johnny into thinking Tyler had a dad who was quite rich

Jody was returned to live with her mother and brothers prior to the episode "S.O.S". Everything seemed fine to Carmen and Tyler, as Jody had lots of new clothes and lots of new gifts. However, it turned out all this was a façade - Jody's brother, Kingsley, was in fact controlling the family, had stolen numerous goods and locked Jody in her bedroom. When this was discovered by Carmen and Tyler, Jody returned to live at the Dumping Ground.

In the episode "Oh, Mo!" Jody came across Elektra's interest in Mo's pearls and joins in looking for them and helping Elektra assemble the pearls to make the full necklace. On learning that Mo wanted to give them to Tee, she returned the pearls to him (much to Elektra's disgust).

The Dumping Ground: Series 2[]

In the Christmas special, Jody was asked to give a witness statement concerning Kingsley, which her mother discouraged her from doing so, fearing the consequences if Kingsley was not jailed. However, Jody was convinced otherwise after following the White Rabbit to Wonderland and seeing the mischief the Knave of Hearts got up to, whom she defeated by testifying against him.

After Bailey was taken from the Dumping Ground by his dad, Jody attempted to find him, believing that Bailey would be on his own if his dad vanished again. She eventually tracked Bailey down to his new home and eventually a football stadium where Bailey's dad disowned him. Jody comforted Bailey outside the stadium and returned his football boots, which Rick and Tyler were attempting to sell over the Internet.

Jody attempted to film her own documentary of life in the Dumping Ground, after believing Carmen and the others was giving a false impression. She was given a video camera from Mike, but failed to drum up interest from the others, aside from Tyler, who uses the camera to film himself doing stunts, Johnny, who tells how he and Tee ended up in care and then refuses to repeat his story after Tyler drains the battery, and Floss, wo decided to put on a puppet show (much to Jody's annoyance). Instead, everyone credits Jody after Mo films some footage on his video and shows it to the others, but Jody points out that Mo was responsible.

At some point, Carmen and Jody fell out with each other. This is evident in the aforementioned episode, where Jody opposes Carmen wanting to put on a false impression. Carmen pretends she cannot hear Jody and even goes as far as accusing Jody of "crocodile tears" after Jody's repeated attempts at filming her documentary fail. Later, in the episode "Sticks and Stones", after Carmen offends Jody, she and Tyler plot revenge on Carmen and glue her to her bedsheet. They later annoy Carmen (in that episode's bonus scene) when Jody flaunts a bedsheet stuck to her as though it were brand new fashion. Later, in "Be My Girl", Jody repeatedly gets blamed for stealing Carmen's magazines, even though she was not responsible.

The Dumping Ground: Series 3[]

An open day was held at the Dumping Ground, where Jody met a family named the Gordons. Mr and Mrs Gordon both had an interest in wrestling. Jody attempted to look as if she knew about wrestling in front of the parents, but ended up having to consult Harry about wrestling. In the end, it was Harry who the Gordons became interested in fostering.

Jody noticed a music box at a jumble sale, but did not have the money on her to buy it. She has an argument with Carmen after she buys the box, and they are handcuffed together by Floss. They become annoyed because both girls want to be in different places at the same time. Carmen wants to attend a party, and Jody wants to attend a book signing). Carmen forces Jody to go to the party, and makes her put a face pack on (which Jody had an allergic reaction to). They make up when Carmen realises that Jody wanted the music box because her mum had one like it and would play it whenever Jody had trouble sleeping. Carmen agrees to go to the book signing with Jody.

Jody starts her own fruit and vegetable shop with Tyler and they take it so far that they buy a pet chicken, which Tyler has to pretend is the ringtone for his phone, so that Mike and May-Li don't become suspicious. However, after May-Li receives a call from trading standards, May-Li realises that Jody and Tyler were selling the vegetables. The remaining vegetables are used to help fund Mischief's healthcare after being run over by a car.

In "It's Not About the Money" Jody realises that Tyler and Ryan stole the computer and sold it. Jody makes them to re-buy the computer and comes to help them get it back when asked to do so by Tyler. Ryan did not own up (only Tyler did) and so in revenger Jody sprayed Ryan with water in the water fight at the end of the episode.

In "Three Days" Jody's room is used for Sasha. Jody originally is quite averse to Sasha being at Ashdene Ridge but at the end of the episode is quite happy with Sasha being there - even telling Carmen to be positive.

In "Free to Good Home", Mike asks Jody to keep an eye on Sasha so that Sasha doesn't break any of the rules. Throughout the episode, Jody is fiercely loyal to Sasha - offering to go with Sasha to the park and then to her house to pick up the room key, giving her advice on her experience and on whether Sasha should admit to stealing the nappies and pretending to steal the nappies so that Sasha doesn't go the secure.

In "Coming Round", Jody accidentally breaks a frog that Chloe made and sent to Ryan. This results in a direct competition between Jody and Ryan in the kung-fu challenge. During this episode PoPo gives Jody advice on writing letters to her mum to lift the weight off of her shoulders. Jody does this and she feels much better. However, the letter is fairly negative about her mum and Ryan in spite sends the letter. Fortunately, Luke Jackson prevents her mum from receiving the letter. Upon advice from Tyler, Jody plays Ryan at his own game - finding unopened letters from Chloe - and speaking to Ryan about them. This results in her winning the overall challenge. Jody however only makes Ryan leave her alone - she didn't take the frog as was originally agreed. Jody also appears to give Ryan a chance. Furthermore, Jody gives advice to PoPo and May-Li in this episode which helps them to reconcile.

Carmen and Tee realise that she is incredibly talented and want her to perform with them. But when Jody gets stage fright, she begins to feel that she can't do it. Carmen encourages her and helps her to overcome stage fright and the trio soon perform for the Dumping Ground gang. In "First Past the Post" Jody helps Tyler to be the council rep by being his campaign manager.

Jody finds out that Floss left the baby in the shed. Each night, however, somebody is coming in and settling the baby for Jody, and is surprised to find that it was Ryan. This is because he used to settle his younger sister Chloe.

Jody becomes angry when Tyler moves out of the Dumping Ground for a night to be with his mum. They promise to be best friends forever, although Tyler's mum is not happy. They eventually make up when Tyler moves back to the Dumping Ground.

In "One For Sorrow", it is discovered that Jody has been stealing things and that she has a flat. Carmen is the only resident to realise Jody is the thief but Carmen gives Jody a chance. Carmen does however ask Tyler to look after Jody before she leaves. In this episodes Tee and Carmen are moving out.

In "Two For Joy" Jody is found to be living with her brother Kingsley, who has changed his ways. She has been stealing things from the Dumping Ground to decorate Kingsley's flat with. Mo tracks Jody's mobile to Kingsley's flat, but they get lost on the way. Kingsley reassures Jody that prison helped him to change his ways and introduced her to a lady called Rosie and she lets them take Mike's clock when she is told that Kingsley is under threat from a former gang to which he owes money. The boys track Jody down, but they are refused entry to Kingsley's flat and she shoves them away. Jody is later trapped by a fire caused by a burning candle in the flat and Mo calls the police. Kingsley fears the police and runs away, leaving Jody in the flat. Tyler rescues Jody and they are both told off by Mike for the situation they put themselves in. Jody apologises to the young people for taking their belongings and is forgiven. In this episode, Jody tells Tyler that if she was to pick anyone to be her brother, she would pick him.

The Dumping Ground: Series 5[]

Jody and Tyler are surprised to find that the young people see them as a couple. Jody claims that Tyler already has a girlfriend he is taking to a kids' care forum dinner. Jody and Tyler decide to ask a girl from the skate park to be his girlfriend. After taking a magazine quiz, Candi-Rose realises the quiz concluded that Jody and Tyler are perfect for each other. After Tyler breaks up with the girl, Jody tries to convince her to give Tyler a second chance. Jody and Tyler realise that their friendship is important and they don't want it to change.

The Dumping Ground: Series 6[]

In "Jody on the Ropes" and "Saved by the Bell", Jody meets her mum and her boyfriend outside of proper contact. This causes Jody to become angry and everyone in Ashdene Ridge begins to become fed up with her. The results in her running away but eventually she is found by May-Li. At the end of "Saved by the Bell", everyone reconciles again. Also in "Jody on the Ropes", May-Li introduces Jody to boxing.

In "SorryNotSorry", Jody appears to be upset with the prospect of Sasha leaving. Jody is given the Peter Pan book by Sasha in this episode. Jody also helps Sasha to realise that she does not want to leave Ashdene Ridge yet.

In "Utopia", Jody gives Tyler a painting of him that she drew when Tyler set everyone the challenge of painting the happiest thing that came to mind.

In "RyanMan", Brandon asks Jody out. Originally, Jody says no, but, after discussion with Tyler, Jody agrees to go out with him as Tyler said he would not take her to the cinema because he doesn't have any money.

In "Me, Myself and I", Jody realises that recently her actions have been selfish and she changes after this episode. She also helps Jay when he is upset which leads her to find out why he has been acting strange all day.

In "No Escaping", Jody and Tyler admit their feelings for each other to each other. However, they agree to just remain friends as romantic relationships are not allowed in Ashdene Ridge and if their relationship was discovered, then one of them might have to leave. However, they both agree to not have any relationships with anyone else. This results in Jody's relationship with Brandon being finished.

The Dumping Ground: Series 7[]

In "Five Doors", Jody works very hard to try and get Sasha back at Ashdene Ridge after an old figure from her past returns - knowing that something wasn't right. Jody only stops with the knowledge that Ashdene Ridge could close as a result of saving Sasha. This demonstrates how strong the friendship between her and Sasha is.

In "Run the Risk" Jody is extremely worried because she thinks Tyler has found himself another girlfriend. However, Tyler quickly dismisses this when Jody asks him about it. This is when Tyler gives Jody the necklace that is shaped as a love heart and has a 'J' in the centre. Jody wears this in almost every episode until when she gives it back to Tyler when he leaves in "Go Your Own Way".

In "Snake" Jody is working very hard for a boxing trial that is coming up. However, as the trial is moved forward (by 2 weeks), she panics and ignores warnings from May-Li (which ended in Jody fainting). Back at the house Jody admits to May-Li her feelings of wanting to be more than her mum or Kingsley. At the end of the episode Tyler comforts Jody with some chocolate biscuits.

In "The Boss" Jody is determined to show Mike and May-Li that she can do the care worker job better than them. However, she becomes quite authoritarian until Mike makes here realise that it is better to be kind and encourage instead of force people do things. This results in us being shown that Jody could be a very good care worker.

In "Mighty Mike Milligan" and "The Last Dance", we see Jody worrying about Tyler going to the prom with Piper. Eventually Jody get frustrated and tells Tyler to go with Piper. In "The Last Dance", Jody hangs around with another boy to make Tyler jealous. Tyler admits that he should have gone with Jody and they both kiss. This begins them officially becoming boyfriend and girlfriend (which isn't allowed so they do it in secret).

The Dumping Ground: Series 8[]

In "Natural Selection" Jody originally leads the efforts on the residents to ensure May-Li gets promoted. However, Jody discovers that May-Li is doing a presentation on her and Jody begins to get paranoid. After looking at the presentation and realising it speaks about every bad thing that ever happened to her, Jody storms into the May-Li Wang's presentation meeting and breaks the computer. This resulted in May-Li resigning.

In "Follow My Leader", Jody tries to ignore the fact that her and May-Li had a close relationship. Jody tries to persuade the others that Al is better than May-Li until Tyler shows Jody the error in her ways when Sid goes missing. Jody helps Tyler and May-Li to fnd Sid and Jody manages to convince May-Li to come back to Ashdene Ridge after both Jody and May-Li admitting their views on the presentation and Al 'giving' the job to May-Li because she would be better at it.

Then in "Auld Lang Syne" both Jody and Tyler engage in a prank war with each other after competition arose between them as they were coaching Katy (coached by Jody) and Sid (coached by Tyler) to compete in the sword-dance competition against each other. Towards the end of this episode Jody was supposed to do a toast to the boys. In the toast, Jody spoke about the Ashdene Ridge family. Jody also remarks that her and Tyler made the best of being put in care.

In "Somebody", Sasha brings Jody (and Jody brings Tyler) to the art exhibition so that they can be Sasha's eyes and ears because Sasha thinks Kalias has stolen her artwork.

In "Go Your Own Way" Jody and Tyler stay overnight with Elektra after running away from Ashdene Ridge because they believed May-Li was going to try and split them up. However, they have to go back to Ashdene Ridge to get Jody's passport so they can travel to St Lucia. They get caught by May-Li and they all agree to leave properly by the book. At the airport Jody decides she isn't ready to leave Ashdene Ridge yet and she says goodbye to Tyler - seeing him off onto the plane.
