He is a bit... weird though, isn't he?

Lol, "Scary Milly"

Marco Maloney is a former resident of Stowey House, Cliffside and Elmtree House I.

Biography[]

Background[]

Little is known of Marco's background, except that he doesn't remember what his mother looks like, so it can be presumed he was either put in care by his mother, that he was taken away from her as she was abusive, or that she is deceased.[2]

The Story of Tracy Beaker: Series 3[]

Marco arrived sometime between Series 2 and Series 3. Because of his love of costumes, he took pretending to be a police officer somewhat bit too far, locked Duke in the garden shed and attempted to swallow the key until Shelley arrived and made him spit it out. He later joined in protest against Shelley's attempt to move Tracy to another care home. He also tried to suggest getting some more dressing up costumes, went on hunger strike against Louise being fostered, was involved with arranging the "Crash Cupboard" in the basement to help Crash deal with his anger management problems and teased Michael when he supposedly humiliated himself when he attempted to win Louise's heart.

Marco - alongside Dolly and Hayley - started the Beaker Club in Tracy's honour, pulling pranks around the Dumping Ground, while Marco even ate a worm. After Tracy realised the trouble the club had caused, she confessed to being the one who started it. When the Dumping Ground suffered a power cut, Marco was involved with the other kids when they told scary stories and played hide-and-seek to pass the time. He also pretended to have an imaginary friend he called "Elvis the Alien" so that he could do whatever he wanted, but later got exposed for what he did and pelted at by Crash, Layla and Jackie. He later saw a photo of Shelley's newly born niece and inquired about where babies came from, which led to Duke and Nathan to try and explain it to Marco (to no avail).

When the other boys attempted to get Duke to let them bake some brownies (despite Duke's "no cooking on Sunday" rule), they got Marco to dress up as a chef and that he needed to cook something (though Duke didn't fall for it). He later took two of the brownies Tracy, Jackie and Justine were making for Justine's step-mother and pretended to be pregnant so that he could get some ice cream. He was also used by Justine when she was trying to practice having a baby sibling, though got annoyed at what Justine tried to do to him, and was present at Justine's leaving party where he attempted a card trick (at which he failed spectacularly) on Cam and pranked Duke with Hayley and Layla by attaching his flip flops to a couple of balloons (making them fly into the air).

The Story of Tracy Beaker: Series 4[]

Marco moved with the rest of the kids, Sid, Duke and Elaine to Cliffside. Along with the rest of the kids, Marco was victimised by the Wellards when the three siblings arrived. However, he later joined Tracy and the others against their fight against the Wellards. When Crash was making his birthday present for Bouncer, he had Marco guard the door and pretend that Crash was making a robot (which they used to scare off Layla and Hayley when they tried to find out what he was doing). Marco also teased Tracy by pretending to kiss her when she was complaining about Cam's mother coming over, was involved in Layla's scam of getting the other kids to pay her for doing their homework for them, worked in beating the Wellards at their own game by playing along with their pranks and helped to deliver love notes Bouncer had written for Jane when she visited the Dumping Ground.

After Marco's strange behaviour drove away a potential foster family, Jackie, Crash, Lol and Bouncer attempted to make him normal so that he would get fostered. Unfortunately, the Boxers (a couple who later arrived) were revealed to be just as strange as Marco is and thought he wasn't fit for them. This led Marco to storm off to his room until the others remade him to his original personality (and make the Boxers like him). When Marco pretended to be a frog, the visiting health inspector was led to believe that Marco thought that he himself actually was a frog. He later helped with Lol in his talk show (holding up signs for the "audience" to say).

After Jackie's Granddad died, Marco helped to track down some of his old friends. He also tried (and failed) to find the thief of a chocolate cake Duke had made, opened an animal hospital in the attic (where he cared for Rio's pet snake), was scared Wolfie would eat his and Layla's pet rabbit Buffy, announced Tracy and Roxy's fight to determine who would be boss of the Dumping Ground and was caught up in pranks Duke and Sid played on the kids during Jackie and Bouncer's leaving do.

Parties with Pudsey[]

Marco is seen in the Parties with Pudsey Special.

The Story of Tracy Beaker: Series 5[]

Marco was involved with the rest of the kids when Elaine forced them to make puppets and tell happy stories, and soon after had trouble trying to find room for all his costumes (soon finding the space when a spare room opened up) while investigating a mystery thief at the Dumping Ground (really Lol who was sleepwalking). After that, he attended Chantel's leaving party, was at Elaine's disastrous opening day, made friends with Milly when she first came to the Dumping Ground and had trouble finding a new costume to wear after being stuck wearing the same constantly, later dressing up as Freddie Mercer when he came to visit.

For Mother's Day, Marco found out that a shop was giving out a free potted plant to every Mother that came in and a free inflatable alien to their child. Bouncer offered to pretend to be his Mum, only for the shopkeeper to fall in love with Bouncer in his outfit. After Bouncer revealed himself for what he really was, Marco confessed to how he actually doesn't have a Mother. This led the shopkeeper to reluctantly give him an alien (and to Lol, Rio and Wolfie when they told him the same thing). After Tracy had a bump on the head, Marco and Milly treated her for it. The two were also under investigation from Justine in finding out who pranked Elaine (and pretended later that they were involved in it so that Alice - who actually did it - wouldn't be alone).

When Shelley announced that she was leaving, Marco worked with the rest of the kids (save for Roxy) in finding a new head care worker. After the first two possible candidates were rejected by the kids, they soon found one called Lucy who they thought would be good until Roxy and Alice claimed she wasn't any good and they soon found Mike would be a good head care worker. After that, Marco (along with a lot of the other kids) got hypnotised by the food in Bouncer's macrobiotic diet, worked with Millie to fix up the other kids with "dates" for the Dumping Ground's valentine's day party (while also exposing Rebecca for who she really was) and attempted to help in opening a chest the kids had found. During a special friend's day at the Dumping Ground, Marco was asked by Mr and Mrs Boxer to come live with them. Unfortunately, the fact that Marco was leaving upset Millie, so he worked out a plan; he pretended that he'd created a machine to turn him into a super bionic foster kid, only for the machine to turn him into a "two-headed monster" (him and Millie) so that the Boxers would have to foster both of them (which they happily accepted).

Personality[]

Marco is very eccentric and lacks self-consciousness. He acts in a way that is considered odd by his peers, but he doesn't seem to care what anyone else thinks. Marco is friendly with everyone, even people who are unkind to him. He is very honest and tells the truth, if it's him in the wrong or other people. He is also very persuasive when trying to get what he wants, and uses very unusual methods to do so.
