[EXTERIOR SHOT OF ELM TREE HOUSE IN THE MORNING. GUS CAN BE HEARD PLAYING A PIECE OF MUSIC ON THE PIANO.]

[DOWNSTAIRS HALLWAY. GUS CONTINUES PLAYING ON THE PIANO. MIKE COMES TO SEE GUS.]

Mike: Gus, Gus...

Gus: Wait!

[MIKE SITS DOWN ON A CHAIR NEXT TO THE PIANO AND WAITS FOR GUS TO FINISH. GUS FINISHES, BUT HE THEN PICKS UP HIS NOTEBOOK AND TURNS TO FACE MIKE.]

Gus: Is the cab booked for twelve?

Mike: Yes. But Gina's...

Gus: How much will it cost?

Mike: We'll pay for...it's on account.

Gus: Is it a people carrier?

Mike: I expect so, I don't know.

Gus: What is the driver's name?

Mike: I don't know. (he pauses briefly) Why do you need to know that?

[GUS IS ABOUT TO ANSWER, BUT MIKE STOPS HIM.]

Mike: Never mind, Gus. Look, Tracy's taking you.

[GUS LOOKS CONFUSED.]

Gus: Gina's taking me.

Mike: Gina was taking you. Tracy is taking you. Everything else is exactly the same.

[SOME OTHER YOUNG PEOPLE CAN BE HEARD IN THE BACKGROUND.]

Mike: Just Tracy, instead of Gina. (he gets up)

Carmen (off camera): And it's just so lucky.

[THE CAMERA PANS OVER TO SHOW CARMEN TALKING TO TEE AND JOHNNY AT THE ENTRANCE. TOBY AND HARRY ARE WITH THEM AS WELL.]

Tee: Carmen.

Carmen: It's going to be fab.

[MIKE SEES THE KIDS.]

Mike: Hey, again, come on, break it up. I've already told you, we don't want to make a big deal out of this, it won't help. Come on, come on.

Carmen (to Mike): I just wanna say "hello".

Mike: Well, let her in the door, first. (he beckons the kids to step away from the doorway) Come one kids. Huh.

[OUTSIDE OF ELM TREE HOUSE. TRACY HAS JUST ARRIVED AND WE HEAR A CAR HORN BEEP. SHE STOPS TO ALLOW THE CAR TO PASS AND HAS A LOOK AT ITS OCCUPANTS AS IT PASSES. THE CAR STOPS AND SHE GOES TO OPEN THE FRONT CAR DOOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE.]

Tracy: Hey, Lily. Hey... (Tracy and the viewer then sees that Poppy and Rosie are not present in the car)

[LILY GETS OUT OF THE CAR.]

Tracy: Just you?

[LILY SAYS NOTHING. THE DRIVER (ROB) ALSO GETS OUT OF THE CAR FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE.]

Tracy (to Rob): Hi, I'm, I'm Tracy I work here.

Rob: Hello. Rob. (he opens the car boot) Lily's social worker. She's come back to stary for a while. (he and Lily start collecting things from the boot)

Tracy: What, without Rosie and Poppy?

[ROB AND LILY BRIEFLY LOOK AT TRACY. THEY SAY NOTHING AND ROB SHUTS THE BOOT.]

[OPENING TITLES]

[DOWNSTAIRS HALLWAY. LILY, WHO IS CLEARLY NOT HAPPY TO BE BACK AT THE DG, IS STANING IN THE HALLWAY STARING INTO SPACE. TRACY AND ROB ENTER THE HOUSE. MIKE ENTERS THE HALL FROM ANOTHER ROOM.]

Mike: Hey, Lily. Nice to see you. Would you like to go get settled in?

[CARMEN RUSHES DOWN THE STAIRS.]

Carmen: Lily! (she runs down the rest of the stairs and runs to give Lily a hug) I missed you so much. (she stops hugging) Come on, let's go upstairs.

[LILY GRABS HER BAG. AND THE GIRLS GO UP THE STAIRS.]

Carmen: How's Poppy and Rosie?

Tracy: What's going on.

Carmen (to Lily): (unintelligible)

Mike: Look, I'll tell you as soon as possible. (to Rob) Let's get the paperwork done first, Rob.

[ROB GOES TO THE OFFICE, MIKE STARTS WALKING THERE AS WELL BUT HE THEN TURNS TO TALK TO TRACY.]

Mike: Oh, Tracy, I'm gonna need Gina here in case Lily needs her...

[TRACY NODS.]

Mike: ...OK, so you're taking Gus to his orchestra audition.

Tracy: Ah, but...

Mike: Let him know that you're here so he doesn't get too stressed.

Tracy: Sure. What time's the audition?

Mike: 12:45. Cab picks him up at 12.

Tracy: That's over 2 hours away. (there is a brief pause) Oh it's Gus.

[MIKE SMILES AND GESTURES TO TRACY TO INDICATE SHE HAS UNDERSTOOD AND GOES TO THE OFFICE. TRACY LOOKS UP AT THE STAIRCASE, PROBABLY MUSING OVER LILY.]

[LILY'S BEDROOM. LILY IS RESTING AGAINST A WALL, GLUM WHILE CARMEN AND GINA ARE MAKING THE BED.]

Carmen: We'll be fine sharing rooms, again. You'll see.

Gina (to Lily): Do you want to unpack, babes?

Carmen (to Gina): I'll help her.

Gina: Hmm. Right, there you go Lily. All clean and fresh!

[JOHNNY HAS ENTERED THE ROOM.]

Johnny: Hi, Lily. I just wanted to say sorry you had to come back.

[HARRY RUNS INTO THE ROOM AND PUTS JEFF'S MOUTH TO LILY'S TO "KISS" HER.]

Harry: Mm-whah.

Gina: (laughs to herself)

Carmen (???, off camera): (chuckles)

Gina: (to Lily) Right, I'll leave you to get settled, yeah? (she kisses Lily on the side of her face, then speaks to Johnny) Come on you. (she leaves with Johnny)

Carmen: You can have whatever bed you like. You can have this one if you want. I mean, it's not like you ahve to be near the door to hear Poppy and Rosie, so...

[LILY BURSTS INTO TEARS]

Carmen: Oh, Lily, (she goes to console Lily) I said you could have whatever bed you want. I didn't mean to upset you.

[LILY CONTINUES CRYING]

[OUTSIDE, TRACY WALKS UP THE STAIRS. SHE TAKES OFF HER BAG AND COAT AND OVERHEARS LILY.]

Lily (off camera): It's not fair, it's not fair!

[TRACY WALKS TO LILY AND CARMEN'S BEDROOM (THE DOOR HAS BEEN LEFT AJAR).]

Carmen (off camera): But we can change the beds around.

[TRACY STOPS TO LISTEN. BACK INSIDE THE BEDROOM, LILY IS STILL CRYING.]

Lily: It's not the bed. I want Poppy and Rosie back!

[CARMEN GIVES LILY A HUG. LILY CONTINUES CRYING.]

[OUTSIDE THE BEDROOM, TRACY HAS HEARD ENOUGH.]

Tracy: (sighs)

[SHE WALKS AWAY TO THE OFFICE.]

Tracy (to Rob, off camera): I don't know how you can do this to her!

[TRACY HAS GONE TO SPEAK TO ROB IN MIKE'S OFFICE. MIKE IS ALSO PRESENT.]

Tracy: (to Rob) It's like she's in shock!

Rob: I haven't done anything to Lily.

Tracy: You took her away from her sisters!

Mike: Tracy, Rob wouldn't have done it unless it was absolutely necessary.

Tracy: It can't be right to split up a family!

Rob: It isn't and we hardly ever do it, but Lily left us with no choice. There was a complete breakdown in communication between her and the foster parents. She didn't want them to look after Poppy and Rosie so the girls kept getting upset coz they didn't know who was in charge.

Tracy: Huh, well surely you could've worked something out!

Rob: And don't you think I tried?

Mike: We thought it best to have Lily here for a while without the responsiblity of having to take care of Poppy and Rosie. Let her enjoy being a kid again.

Rob: Right, I'm off. (he walks to the exit) I'm already late for my next call, and I've got four to do after that.

[TRACY AND MIKE FOLLOW ROB OUT THE DOOR TO THE HALLWAY.]

Tracy: So Lily will be going back?

Rob: Once she's learnt she doesn't have to be in charge all the time, we'll reassess the situation.

Tracy: Great! Thanks.

Rob: Don't forget. She's been mothering her sisters for years now. It could be months before Lily's ready to accept a new authority figure.

[ROB WALKS TO THE EXIT AND MIKE FOLLOWS HIM.]

Mike: Thanks, come on Rob (???)

[TRACY HAS A FUNNY SMILE ON HER FACE. A CARTOON VERSION OF HER, DRESSED AS A SUPERHERO, FLIES ACROSS THE TV SCREEN AND TRANSITIONS INTO A CARTOON ANIMATION. CARTOON TRACY PICKS UP LILY FROM IN FRONT OF ELM TREE HOUSE AND FLIES HER THROUGH THE CITY. SHE ARRIVES AT A CARTOON HOUSE WHERE AN ASTONISHED POPPY AND ROSIE ARE OUTSIDE, WATCHING THEM LAND. TRACY LANDS LILY ON THE GROUND, WHERE POPPY AND ROSIE COME UP TO LILY, DANCING WITH JOY. THE SOUND OF CHEERING IS HEARD. TRACY TAKES OFF AND LILY WAVES HER GOODBYE. THE ANIMATION ENDS.]

[IN THE KITCHEN, GINA IS POURING TEA INTO A CUP. TEE COMES IN FROM THE GARDEN CARRYING A COLINDER FILLED WITH TOMATOES.]

Gina: (to Tee) Oh, thank you. Can you just give them a quick wash please.

Tee: (walking over to the sink) OK.

Gina: Great.

[MIKE HAS ENTERED THE KITCHEN AND COMES UP TO GINA.]

Mike: (to Gina) How's Lily doing?

Gina: Hm, she's kind of a bit shell-shocked but, hm, she's with Carmen. (she pours Mike some tea)

Mike: Mm, we'll have to find something to distract her.

Gina: Mmm, what about a pet?

Mike: Uh-huh.

[TEE, WHO HAS BEEN WASHING THE TOMATOES UNDER A SINK, TURNS TO MIKE AND GINA'S DIRECTION, HAVING TAKEN AN INTEREST IN THEIR CONVERSATION.]

Gina: No, no
